"از وقوف بر بازداشت اخیر آقای کامبیز مرادی‌پور و همسرش خانم سینو رسولی، همراه با هفت تن دیگر از اعضاء جامعۀ بهائی در ایران، تنها چند روز قبل از انعقاد جشن‌های یوم مقدّس آنها عمیقاً محزون و نگران شدم. اگرچه رویداد جدیدی نیست، امّا اذیت و آزار خشونت‌آمیز و ناموجّه اعضاء جامعۀ بهائی بسیار موجب نگرانی است.
هر یک از افراد بشر مستحقّ برخورداری از حیات، آزادی و طلب مسرّت و شادمانی هستند. برای بهائیان، مانند جمیع اهل ادیان، حصول مسرّت در اثر وقف خویشتن به دیانت حاصل می‌شود. استمرار اذیت و آزار جامعۀ بهائی ایران توسّط رژیم حاکم بر این کشور به بی‌اعتنایی شنیع و وحشتناک به حقوق بشر و حاکمیت قانون می‌افزاید.
همیشه مدافع حقوق بشر و ازادی در ایران و در جمیع نقاط دنیا هستم و توصیه می‌کنم کلّیه اعضاء جامعۀ بهائی که بناحق زندانی شده‌اند بلافاصله آزاد شوند."
STATEMENT BY SENATOR JOHN McCAIN ON OPPRESSION OF BAHA’I FAITH COMMUNITY IN IRAN

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today condemning the recent arrests of members of the Baha’i Faith community in Iran:
“I was deeply disturbed to learn about the recent arrests of Mr. Kambiz Moradipour and his wife Ms. Sino Rasouli, along with seven other members of the Baha’i Faith community in Iran, just days before their holy celebrations. Although not new, the violent and unjustified persecution of the members of the Baha’i Faith is of great concern.
“Every human being is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For Baha’is, as for all people of faith, happiness is pursued through religious devotion. The Iranian regime’s continued oppression of the Baha’i community adds to its outrageous disregard for human rights and rule of law.
“I will always stand for universal human rights and freedom in Iran and around the world, and urge the immediate release of all the members of the Baha’i Faith who have been wrongfully imprisoned.”
